If you’ve already bought the first edition of the digital book, I think you can get the updated version for free. Please let me know if that works.
I first published my book, The American Civil War WAS About Slavery, as a digital book on Amazon Kindle. It was really a trial run for my upcoming novel, Rampage on the River. I wanted to know all that was involved before I tried to publish a larger work. Of course, I also wanted to put together a well-researched book that would be of use to people in their understanding of our history.
I was delightfully surprised to see how well it was received, especially among Civil War buffs. The only complaint I’ve gotten is that it wasn’t available in print. I originally put it together to be brief, but it ended up being too short to qualify for printing. So, while I wait for my copyeditor, who is also my girlfriend, to finish reviewing my novel, I thought I’d spend some time expanding my nonfiction work.
I’ve added a Civil War timeline as it relates to the question of slavery. There is now a section on how the Confederate Constitution guaranteed the right to own and transport slaves. I’ve added a section that deals with Robert E. Lee’s thoughts on slavery and testimony from one of his ex-slaves about Lee’s treatment of the human beings he held in bondage. I’ve also expanded my Common “Lost Cause” Arguments section.
…and best yet: there’s a sneak preview excerpt from my forthcoming novel at the end. I hope you like it!
