So what about this "town"?

LOL. That is pretty funny out of context. I can understand the need for civilian reenactors to have homes, buildings, etc to anchor their impression around, but it seems to me that this one tried too hard about half the time, and not enough the other half. Maybe the civilian equivalent of fighting for the park playground. (Btw, valuable advice: every reenactor should attend at least one event as a spectator. It's a sobering experience.)

When we are talking pre fabricated, none permanent houses for reenactment/live roleplay I have seen better...

Small medieval-ish town with 200 people living in it...
From 2004: Houses build of wood poles and cloth. (note the church in the middle)

From 2012 - 320 people... Now All houses are of wood and can be stored in 40foot containers, and everything is pulled down in a few hours.

So it is a farb town?

The reenactments I have been too rely solely on tents, for sutlers, medical, etc. etc. I don't see a need for anything beyond that.

A tent for a courthouse? Well this did give the civilian reenactors a place to hang out. This reenacted has moved and now has a park that has a town with real buildings.

The Civil War did take place in more than open fields.
I always found it amusing that the local reenactment has the MSG camping with CW tents ect…...Most local accounts have em sleeping in barns with farmers bringing em food.

My uncle had a barn where MSG or guerrillas had carved a checkerboard on a beam that they used kernels' of corn to play. They found 6 pdr cannonballs in the field of the same farm.

Shaker Village in Kentucky is a great "authentic" town.

I also really liked the "houses" at the Bummer's event several years ago. They made for good burning. Even though I was Georgia Militia for the event.
