Hello everybody, after being surprised that the Reenactors Forum had no host I volunteered so here I am. This host thing is totally new to me so I'm open ears to any tips or suggestions you all may have. Most of you know I'm very passionate about the reenacting hobby and try to do it year round, down here in Florida in the winter and the Northeast in the summer. One thing I'd like to see from our reenactors or any members attending events, lets hear about them before you go. I bet many of us have crossed paths at events and didn't even know or members hearing about events after the fact and wishing they knew about it and could have gone. And as always this forum is such a great tool for new reenactors getting into the hobby with great advice from the great experienced reenactors on here I will be keeping an eye out to make sure that anyone with a question gets some help. In the coming months we have some great events coming up here in Fl. so you all will be hearing a lot about that and hopefully maybe see some of you there.

Thank you for stepping up, and the first item of good news in your new position is that 30th anniversary of the reenactment at Cedar Creek is on for 2019.
Thank you and yes, that is terrific news. My northern bunch has it on their schedule already. I hope it turns out to be a fantastic event this year with no drama.

Thank you for stepping in! Will I see you at Hale Farm this year? Or Zoar maybe?

Thank you, and welcome! I always assumed there was a host for this forum, but it seems it was left empty knowing you'd be along to fill the post. I look forward to your future steerage.

if you don’t mind, I would like to make a request/suggestion. If you really want discussion on authenticity, it might not be a bad idea to discourage the use of the word “farb” and its derivations. In my experience it needlessly alienated people, when a simple explanation of why something is not authentic would suffice.

Good luck!

Thanks and I agree although I do use the term sometimes for blatant offenses. Seriously though I know what you mean. No matter what level of the hobby we are in we can all learn from each other and need to be on the same team.

I agree whole heartedly! While the term 'Farb' might be acceptable when talking about a piece of equipment (and even here, I find little justification) we should refrain from using it when referring to fellow reenactors or units. Education and mentorship are the key, not divisive name calling!

Our battery is still finalizing the list of events that will be up for consideration at our first meeting. When It's done, I'll post them here.

So glad to hear that you're the forum host!! You'll do a great job
Thanks for your vote of confidence. I'm still not exactly sure what I need to be doing but I hope we can have some good activity in the forum and try to answer or page the right people to answer any questions anyone may have regarding the hobby. Was at a good event down here over the weekend, I'm waiting on my other half to fork over some pictures so I have something to post.
