This week Throwback Thursday goes all the way back to - last week!?! That's because it affords me the opportunity to shamelessly promote my latest thread featuring photos of our recent foray to North Georgia for the CWT gathering at Ringgold/Chickamauga, which as usual has already disappeared from the homepage: https://civilwartalk.com/threads/union-24-gun-battery-at-kennesaw-mountain-nbp.151261/ This photo was taken last Tuesday by Mike @mkyzzzrdet at the newly-opened-to-the-public Union 24-Gun Battery at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield outside Marietta.

You seem to be a proud Confederate descendant and a hardcore Civil War buff awesome.

How about you create Civil War Monuments threads for Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee as well as border states Kentucky and Missouri like what we're doing in Texas.

I started that thread entitled Texas' Civil War Monuments mainly to show and describe the few types of those red granite monoliths and later aluminum signs usually found within the state; others gradually added their own photos, usually of the similar Centennial-era battlefield markers. The few differing types such as the one in my latest post have also been added. Unfortunately, I don't feel qualified by location to tackle the other states and usually confine my work to the weekly Monument Monday threads or specific locations such as particular battlefields.

If you can do research maybe

Thanks for the promo, I missed those yesterday, enjoyed the pictures of the battery and gave them a bump.

You've identified some potentially very interesting and informative threads. But, as James N. pointed out, it would be difficult for any one person to do them all. Fortunately, there is nothing stopping members in those states from creating threads using James N. 's template.

Likewise. Good to see they're opening up more of Kennesaw. I stopped briefly there on a whistle tour and enjoyed wandering the trench works. It inspired me to read more on the battle. Those artillery emplacements are looking good!

James N. I'm loving the 20th Corps badge on your Forage Cap, I had one that style, till it got nicked at a re-enactment in Prague, but that's a story for another Throwback Thursday :D

Great photos, you look right at home next to that gun.

I've posted these photos of it before, and it's only a "cheapie" I bought out of a sutler's clearance box at the 150th Shiloh. The star is left from the 135th Gettysburg where we were issued at registration three different pre-cut felt corps badges, the white star of Geary's division at Culp's Hill; a white shamrock for Gibbon's division on Cemetery Ridge; and a red circlet for Wadsworth's division on McPherson's Ridge. I'd already used the others, so put the star on this cap; since Geary's division played a prominent role at both Missionary Ridge and Ringgold (as well as becoming a part of the new Twentieth Corps which used the same corps badge) I thought it was appropriate wear for the occasion of our Gathering and my talk about Ringgold!
