I just received, today, @Albert Sailhorst's book, "Voices From The Kitchen." It is really wonderful! What an amazing job you did Albert! I think I can manage the boiled parsnips:giggle: and they are all very interesting to read. I've been spending the past 3 hours going through this book and love it.

I'm very struck with just how much time everything took to prepare if you were going to eat well. Nothing was simple, nothing.

Is that your son on the cover of the book? That is a great photo of a camp set up for cooking.

Thank you for the kind words!
Yes, it is amazing just how long foods took to prepare and cook!
That is my 16 year old son on the cover! He has been reenacting with me for 11 years now! At reenactments, he usually cooks cobblers, but in the cover photo, he is cooking a stew for about 20 of us at a reenactment in Galesburg, IL last year!
Thanks for your support!
Let me know when you cook anything from the book!
