Colonel Stephen D. Thruston 3rd North Carolina (Spotsylvania Conflicting Information)

@CSA Today is this information available online?

Not to my knowledge. If you live in North Carolina the 19 volumes currently out should be in a local library in the reserved section. I bought the 18 volumes then out several years ago. A new volume comes out every 2-4 years. The compilers are nearing the end of the series, I believe there will be about 22 volumes upon completion. The website below gives information on the volumes.

Bummer, I'm a Marylander. Would love to have the set someday but it's a bit out of my price range at the moment. I suppose I could try my college's interlibrary loan program. They've set me up with the entire Virginia Regimental History series which has been largely out of print or extremely expensive. Lots of valuable info. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it!

Interlibrary loan is worth a try. Anytime I can help let me know.

Hmmm...what does it show for Alfred C. Ward of the 3rd NC Cavalry?

He was the younger brother of George W. Ward,

Ward, Alfred, Charles, Captain - Co. A. 41st Regiment N.C.T. (3rd Regiment N.C. Cavalry)

Resided in Duplin County and enlisted in New Hanover County November 14, 1861, for twelve-month service. Mustered in as Private and appointed sergeant April 30, 1862. Elected 2nd Lieutenant August 28, 1862, and appointed to rank from August 15, 1862. Promoted to 1st Lieutenant to rank from September 12, 1863, and to Captain on February 4, 1865, to rank from December 21, 1864.

Thanks again!

Alfred C. Ward had a long and prosperous post-war career. After the war he married and had five children. He was elected Sheriff of Pender County, NC, and was a member of the State Legislature. He amassed so much real estate that he was said to be the largest taxpayer in the county at the time of his death in 1915.

I know this is an old post but I just discovered that Col. Thruston wrote a personal account of his experience in the battles of The Wilderness and Spotsylvania Court House. It was published in the Southern Historical Society Papers in 1886.

See Page 146 https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=chi.100972193&view=1up&seq=7

Thruston's own account is consistent with what CSAToday reported from the Roster elsewhere on this thread.

Being dated as an old thread like @Bruce Vail pointed out above, this thread on publications is no longer found. Relocated maybe? It would be interesting to read about these. Thanks,
Lubliner.

Thank you, I saved it to my Favorites Bar. I was very much interested in a consolidated set and some synopsis, and will look further into it. Possibly an Amazon offering for a disk set is in the future. I did find one North Carolina Library Site online that had specific focus on Civil War.
Lubliner.
