Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken makes a Bourbon Eggnog Doughnut with a yeast pillow doughnut, bourbon eggnog pastry cream, a bourbon eggnog glaze and snickerdoodle crumble. They're located in downtown Los Angeles, Falls Church, VA. and Washington, D.C. With this many locations, a lot of our CWT buddies could give them a try.

@Jimklag and @LoriAnn, how far are you from Geneva, IL? All Chocolate Kitchen serves an eggnog crème brarararaaaalée in a golden egg pasteurized shell with a handmade candy cane and a sugar ribbon. This thing looks amazing. I mean that "ribbon" is edible!! Check out their website at http://www.allchocolatekitchen.com/

You can forget about the above if you want because I have found you a really fancy looking spot (@Southern Unionist says that's code for pricey) in Chicago. Somerset serves an Eggnog Sundae with nutmeg-vanilla bean ice cream, Okinawan brown sugar-bourbon ice cream, bitter caramel, bourbon maple reduction, whipped coconut, spiced white chocolate chantilly, Graham feuilletine crunch and nutmeg croquant. If you try it @LoriAnn or @Jimklag, I want pics!!

I have learned from looking at dozens of yummy eggnog recipes that Demerara rum is often a key ingredient in fancy versions. I had never heard of it so naturally I went looking. Demerara is a type of rum made in Guyana, on the northern coast of South America. Guyana has been a sugar producing country since the 17th century and was home to the original rum supplied to the British Navy. Sadly, there is only one active distillery left in Guyana today. It's called Demerara Distillers and they make dozens of different rums. Demerara rum is reportedly most similar in style to Jamaican rum, but has a smoky, almost burnt flavor that can add complexity to cocktails. Have you ever tried it?

I've been to the Corner Cafe. No eggnog martinis, though.

Here's a recipe just in case @Jimklag. It's courtesy of The Café Sucré Farine. They have lots of great recipes on their website at https://thecafesucrefarine.com

Salted Toffee Shortbread Cookies

¾ cup butter, softened
¼ cup shortening, softened
½ cup sugar
2 cups flour
pinch salt

1/2 cup toffee bits
coarse sea salt
sugar for sprinkling

1. Cream butter, shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add flour and mix until well blended.

2. Roll out on a lightly floured surface until fairly thin. Sprinkle with toffee bits and cover with a plastic wrap. Gently roll over plastic wrap, pressing toffee bits into the dough. Remove plastic wrap and sprinkle lightly with sea salt, crushing salt between your fingers as you sprinkle. Cut out desired shapes, sprinkle lightly with sugar and place on an ungreased sheet pan. spacing 1/2 inch apart.

3. Bake at 350 for 10 to 14 minutes or until light golden.

These may be baked tomorrow. Yum!!!!!

"Let set in cool place for several days. Taste frequently."
Not to sure about letting cream , milk and raw eggs set around for a few days. Even though they are pickled:cow::cow::cautious::skull:
Now most eggnogs are made with a cooked base, which makes a creamier eggnog that doesn't separate like George's seems to have done. Much safer than this recipe.
