Okay, @KansasFreestater , you just made my day awesome! Soon we'll all be communicating in verse!!

Mwah hah haaaahhhh,
Adam
(And I intentionally did NOT take the bait to add a rhyme in response - I have to maintain some sort of quasi-mystique.)
I didn't expect a rhyme in response. I was just trying to give credit (or blame!) where it's due. You have corrupted me!! :D

Ahem...lalalala. Ok. Pitch perfect.

As sung by Commissary Banks, Bennie I.am., Mick Carter, and Sheri, while in camp.

They ask me why, I'm just a hairy guy
I'm hairy noon and night, hair that's a fright
I'm hairy high and low, don't ask me why, Don't know
It's not for lack of bread, like the Grants and Lincolns...
Boys, give me a head with hair, long beautiful hair
Shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen
Give me Custer's lucky hair, shoulder length or longer
Here, baby, there, Pickett, everywhere, daddy, daddy
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it, long as Belle can grow it, my hair

Let it fly in the breeze and get caught in the trees
Give a home to the fleas in my hair
A home for fleas, (yeah) a hive to bees, (yeah) a nest for birds
There ain't no words for the beauty, the splendor, the wonder of my
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it, long as Sherm can grow it, my hair

I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy
Ratty, matty, oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, gleaming
Streaming, flaxen, waxen, knotted, polka dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided, powdered, flowered and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled and spaghettied
They'll be ga ga at Gettysburg when they see me in my glory,
My Hardee made of blond, brilliantined, Beauregard hair
My hair like Jesse Reno wore it, Hallelujah, I adore it
Hallelujah; Mary Lincoln loved her son, why don't my mother love me?
Hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair
Flow it, show it, long as Lee can grow it, my hair
Flow it, show it, long as Stuart can grow it, my hair
Flow it, show it, long as Forrest can grow it, my hair
Flow it, show it, long as Longstreet can grow it, my hair.

I love this song!! You're awesome!
Your-awesome-clipart.jpg

"Feelings" and "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" by Freddie Fender. I almost like the Spanish part because I can't understand it.
You don't like Freddy Fender? Harrumph!! You are obviously not a Texan. But that is no excuse. If you will confess to at least liking Willie Nelson, I might consider letting you off without taking you out back and giving you twenty whacks with a mesquite branch. (Although I must admit my favorite Freddy Fender song was "If You've Got the Dinero, I've Got the Camaro.")

Well, I sorta like his "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." I'll look for If You've Got the Dinero, I've Got the Camaro on youtube. As for Willie Nelson he smoked pot on the White House roof with JEC III.

Ha! My boss at the Tarleton U Farm office used to sing Freddy Fender all the time. I love him... but not quite as much as Johnny Rodríguez (who performed here a month or so back).

You worked at Tarleton State? That's awesome! My former ranch manager just moved down to that area to be a professional horse trainer. I just love making all these it's-a-small-world connections.
Isn't Tarleton nicknamed Cowboy U?
When you say the Farm office, does that mean you worked in Extension?

Yeppers. Grew up around Stephenville. I had a work study job at the college farm while I was in college... at the office for the College Farm, working for the farm manager.

Was an Extension Agent Home Economist for almost 18 years. And yeah, it is Cowboy U.

Boy, do we need to meet.

Hate to be the music pedant but Dinero was written by Augie Meyers (a partner with Freddie in the Texas Tornados). A classic outfit and a fun tune. As Texas as Bob Wills, too.

Sorry, you done gone and punched the music button.

As for Barry what's-his-name ... well, no comment.

Edit: hey @FarawayFriend look what came up on CWT !

Yes, we absolutely need to meet! And I guess we will, come September 28!

You were an Extension Agent for 18 years? WOW!! And now you're a high-school teacher, right? You are one awesome lady, that's all I can say.

Growing up in the humongo-cities of Dallas and Houston, I didn't even know what an extension agent was until I became friends with a man who'd grown up in a rural area down near Victoria. He and ten other bicyclists and I rode our bikes across Texas many years ago, from Houston to Amarillo. We followed Highway 6 (and thus, paralleled the Brazos River) for a big chunk of the trip. My favorite 100 miles of that 700-mile trip was the stretch between Waco and Eastland. We camped one night in Meridian State Park and another night at Proctor Lake near Dublin. I'll never forget those gently rolling hills, peanut fields and pecan orchards. GOD'S COUNTRY! (Of course, whenever I tell my fellow Kansans this, they get a bit peeved that I could call some place in Texas "God's Country"....) I've also spent time around Granbury and Glen Rose.... oh my, oh my. That area may not be as dramatic as the actual Hill Country further south, but it sure is beautiful.

My former ranch manager will be training horses not far from Fort Worth, but he is sure looking forward to getting to know people at/from Cowboy U!

As anyone can tell who's actually read through this TMI, way-too-long post, you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the girl!

Only one of the people I voted for
Made it to the final four.
If he isn't in the final two,
I don't know what on earth I'll do.
Probably tear my own hair out!
For, you see, I would begin to doubt
The taste -- nay, sanity! -- of my peers,
Whose fickleness might bring me to tears.
Oh yes, you can take that to the bank,
Since I confess I've got a hank-
ering for that guy I find so cute--
Like a matinee idol, he's a beaut!
But nothing fancy nor or-nate;
He's ever so manly, no debate.

Enough! I must now call a halt.
@amweiner, it's all your fault!
This is very clever!
