I dropped by Gettysburg yesterday late afternoon to check a couple of things: The results of the landscape reclamation at the LRT and VoD (post coming) and the progress in the restoration of Lee's HQ area. The area looks pretty incredible and unrecognizable from a summer ago. Big kudos to everyone involved in the restoration

This photo is facing due west. You can see that the new orchard trees are there and moving along

Interpretive plaques were placed, one outside the fence and three inside the fence.

In addition to the landscaping, several new outdoor structures were created:

I could not quite see inside, but my camera did so, and it looks like the indoor renovations to a museum are getting pretty close; they need additional furniture it seems.

Thanks for the pictures. I contributed to purchasing the property and last September I was able to drop by and see how things were going. At that time they had removed all the old stuff but the re-do was still a construction zone. BJ convinced me to ignore the signs that said "go away" in several ways and, since it was apparently lunch hour and no worker bees were around, I looked inside. Not much to see really. Great to see what it looks like finished.

So the property was purchased from Quality Inn?

Great photos!
So much better than the motel....

Great shots! Too bad I did not know you were around this weekend. My son and I were up on Oak Ridge cleaning up along the fence. Lots of weeds already! Would have enjoyed having lunch with you!

Great shots. We were there earlier in April and it looks great. Really can 'see' the troop movements better now. But watch out over by the canon. It can be very wet and mushy there.

If anyone volunteers there please put extensions on the downspouts they are dumping all the rainwater at the corner of the foundation. I'll buy them and put them on but dont want to get in any trouble. Water is the enemy of old buildings. The hotel had them trenched under ground to get the water away.
