I just received my current "Blue & Gray" magazine. This issue highlights the Battle of Bentonville, North Carolina. The General's Tour of the battlefield and surrounding sites are Class A! The articles and maps are also Class A.

Haven't taken mine out of the plastic yet. It's the first new issue I've received since purchasing a 2 year subscription in February. Still trying to finish 3 back issues that I ordered. :D

should be a good one, hoping for more NC battles to be covered. We always bring the B/G's along on our trips east and south. Nothing like a good preview of the battlefield before exploring it on your own......

I received America's Civil War magazine as a gift. Is Blue and Gray better?

I am a three-time author for Blue and Gray and the publisher, Dave Roth is a long time associate. He has asked me for three new articles. Despite all of this I can say with a clear conscious that it is the one to subscribe to (and is the only one I have a subscription to.) As Ed Bearss says, "Hands down the best Civil War periodical for battlefield trampers..."

Dave ensures a fact check of every detail. In my first article I quoted a Union corporal. Dave called and said, "I see that he was a private but no promotion to corporal, are you sure about his rank?" He was right. He also personally puts together the General's Tour to ensure all directions are correct and he also takes all of the photography for the tour. He is a perfectionist, a great historian, a heck of map maker, and a dear friend.

I guess you could say i give it two thumbs up.

Reportedly Ed Bearss favorite magazine. Each time he's spoken to our roundtable on a particular battle, he prints out the maps he uses from "Blue & Gray"

Same with the Houston Civil War Round Table since I've been a member. He is our January speaker every year.

If you want to ever travel... or if you're like me and have to see the ground to understand what went on, Blue and Gray. There are good things about both magazines.

Awesome. I need to buy a copy. It's possible that I had a great great grandfather from both the Blue and the Gray at Bentonville. One was in the Michigan 10th Cavalry and the other in the South Carolina 2nd Infantry at the time of this battle.

Oops. The Michigsn 10th Infantry (and not the 10th Cavalry) apparently was at Bentonville. Thought I was on track to having a 2x grandfather on opposite sides of the same battlefield. So close.
