@War Horse
It is with all due respect that I will not be able to attend this great battle in September due to the fact that my 50th high school reunion is on the same weekend as this battle engages. My wish for you is have a safe and fun experience and post a lot of photos. Stanley
Stanley you and Aretha will be missed. We will surely take many pictures and post them.

A Friday during the school year is bad for me, so I most probably won't be able to make the bus tour.

I can do something on Saturday--I'm thinking Little Round Top.

Alright. Just thought of this (and, full disclaimer, I might have a personal interest in this - kind of) . @Eric Wittenberg, would you be able to point out when and where the official Confederate reports for the battle were written with good enough data? We know that at least a few were out there on July 3rd - 5th?

Just a totally selfish question  that I am sure that does not make that much difference in the big picture. Looking for a certain needle in a haystack, that might or might not exist...

Nearly all of them were written in August once the armies had returned to the Rappahannock River.

Big News Everyone. It looks like we have a date for our "Retreat from Gettysburg Tour" We also have some very exciting news about expenses.

Date of the Tour: Friday September 29, 2017

Tour Bus Company: Wolf Tour Lines: Cost will be based on number of attendee's. An approx. cost at this time is an incredibly inexpensive $30.00 per person. $30.00 for an entire day of history amongst friends. and experts

Dinner: Above O'Rorkes Friday night

Accommodations: 30 block of rooms at "The 1863 Inn of Gettysburg" Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

We will meet at the Visitors Center Friday Morning. @Eric Wittenberg and I will determine the time we shall meet and what lot to meet in.

We will depart early AM and return Friday evening. The tour will consist of multiple stops on our way to Williamsport. There will be a lunch stop.

The late September date should also allow for some spectacular foliage scenery along the way.

Eric Wittenberg has done a tremendous amount of research into The ANV and AOP actions following the battle. This is a tremendous opportunity to learn from an expert the activities of the AOP and ANV between July 4, 1863 and the arrival of Grant. To many times we jump from Gettysburg right to the Overland Campaign. There is a lot of action and history that took place immediately following the battle of Gettysburg and Grants arrival. If you haven't studied it in the past, you will be amazed at the movement of the two armies and the decisions made by each commander. It's simply fascinating.

Please check you calendars and let me know if you would like to book a reservation. I will handle it the same way if did last September and build a spread sheet. We will need definite commitments. The largest charter bus holds up to 60 people.

Any questions please feel free to ask.

Here we go again
I added this to the post at the top, but you should have the ability to edit as well! just want to make sure the info doesn't get lost.
