Chickamauga 2018

Hey, we have not yet talked about a date.
As we will probably have to come during our summer or fall school vacation time here in Germany, it is still risky for us, too. Maybe we will find a date that makes it possible for the two of us to attend, too! Our summer vacation dates change every year, as each state in our Federal Republic sets the dates separately, so that in turns every state is first in the summer vacation season, or middle or last. I will have to find out when Lower Saxony has set the summer vacation dates (and/or fall vacation dates) for 2018.

Oh, oh, just had a look ... as @nitrofd said we should best plan around the original date of battle, which was Sept. 18-20, that would mean I'm out :frown:
No need for you all to change plans of course, but as it is still this early, I can tell that for me a date between June 28th and Aug. 8th (Lower Saxony summer vacations) would be best, which is probably the least agreeable time for the battlefield ...

Well ... even if I cannot participate in the reunion then, I hope that maybe I can meet at least some of you somewhere...

For planning purposes.

Also since I work with Jim, if you all want him, better try to line it up soon, his calendar fills up pretty fast, and he is already busy the Anniversary Weekend, the 15th and 16th.
Then it's time to set a date. That is the first step. Once we've done this we can put the rest together one piece at a time. Let's plan our date and make our invitation to Jim thru @lwhite64.

Then we will need a hotel. From my last experience I would suggest just one hotel will be needed. We should find one with meeting rooms and a place for group gatherings. We may or may not need the meeting room. However if we invite professionals to join us it's an option we will need. Securing a block of rooms should be easy this far out.

Maybe you would know,Bragg and D.H.Hill were really good buddies in Mexico when he was with George Thomas and John Reynolds.what caused his falling out besides the poisonous Kentucky crew.
I think it was both of them at that point, Bragg thought enough of Hill to put him in charge of the operation at McClemore's Cove, but when that failed, Bragg lost confidence in him.

I bet he is. He was our guide last year at the Hood's Texas Brigade Association Reactivated Battlefield Tour of Chattanooga/Chickamauga. We had him for 3 full days and 2 nights. The only time he stopped teaching was to eat and use the bathroom.:D

I would also suggest consulting our experts open dates and go from there. It will work much better that way

Chattanooga is the ideal place to reserve accommodations

Does Jim take the group on walks of great distance during his tours?

What I mean is would someone need to be able to walk more than a few hundred feet?
