Tomorrow morning, my son and I will leave Cincinnati, Ohio and travel to the wonderful state of Virginia. We will start off our tour at Trevilian Station and end our tour at the Appomattox Court House.

* Trevilian Station Battlefield
* Cedar Mountain Battlefield
* Culpeper Sites (National and Confederate cemeteries, Court House)
* Brandy Station Battlefield
* Kelly's Ford Battlefield
* North Anna River Battlefield
* JEB Stuart Memorial
* Richmond Battlefields (Seven Days and Overland Campaign Battlefields)
* Tredegar Iron Works
* Museum of the Confederacy
* Hopewell (Grant's H.Q.)
* Petersburg National Battlefield
* Five Forks Battlefield
* Lee's Retreat (White Oak Road to Appomattox Court House)

I will definitely take plenty of photos and post them when I get back to my heavenly abode.

I just received an email from the Civil War Trust's Garry Adelman. He advised the Trust moved the two cannon from Robert E. Lee's H.Q. at Gettysburg and placed them at the Cedar Mountain Battlefield. Awesome!!!

I agree with you but we had to fit these venues within my son's school and work schedules.

Besides our trek from Cincinnati to Louisa, most of these sites are very close to each other.

I would love to spend more time but time is the essence.

I hope you enjoy Brandy Station and Trevilian Station in particular. I lead tours of both that take up most of the day. :smile:

Y'all gonna hit the Confederate White House next to the MOC in Richmond and the MOC right down the road from Appomattox Court House?

Bill: Maybe I missed something, but why are the cannons from Lee's H.Q. in GB being moved to Cedar Mt.? Were they originally from Cedar Mtn.? Take plenty of pictures, sounds great. My family lived in Cincinnati before the war, so it is our long ago home town.

Bill,

You do know that this is NOT the wartime station at Trevilians, right? The wartime station was much smaller and was on the other side of the railroad tracks. I know where it is, but it's hard to tell someone how to find it.

Yes, Sir......

The Trevilian train depot was located on the other side of the tracks. The Trevilian home was located where this current structure sits.

I received an email from Garry Adelman recently about the cannon movement. He did not elaborate on why the Civil War Trust decided to move the cannon from Gettysburg to the Cedar Mountain Battlefield.

Looks like a fun if not slightly busy itinerary! Look forward to the pix.

I know the CWT is in the process of restoring Lee's HQ in Gettysburg, not sure why the movement.

Not quite right. The Trevilian home is that white house that was immediately to the left of the train depot. The Civil War Trust rescued it several years ago.

Okay, thank you!

I waved to a lady sitting outside at the white house.

I really enjoyed the Ogg farm area.

Nice little town, Eric.
