Can anyone give me information on General Sheridan's major staff officers in the "Army of the Shenandoah" during the 1864 Valley Campaign? I know his chief-of-staff was Colonel James Forsyth. Anyone got the names of his commissary chief, quartermaster, chief of artillery, ect.?

Sheridan mentions the following officers in his official report of the Valley Campaign (though with fewer details):

Ltc John Kellog, Chief Commissary, died in 1865
Ltc Cornelius W. Tolles, Chief Quartermaster, killed in October, 1864
Ltc Henry H. Young, Chief Scout
Ltc Joseph O'Keeffe, (don´t know his staff position), back with the cavalry and mortally wounded at Five Forks 1865
Asst. Surg. Emil Ohlenschlager, Medical Inspector, killed in October, 1864
1st Lt John R. Meigs, Chief Engineer, killed on October 3, 1864

He also mentions several officers by rank and name who were temporarily present and sent from Washington, from the Engineer Bureau and from Grant's staff. Maybe I´ll find some more after sleep (04:20 a.m.).

Is that Meigs the same Meigs who was the son of Monty Meigs? Monty who as quartermaster general chose Arlington as the site for the new national ceremony and buried a son close to the main Lee house so no one could live there from then on.

This may be a little late, but I found this photograph of his staff.

At this time, Colonel James Forsyth was his AIG (Assisant Inspector General). It shows several other staff members include aide-de-camps, assistant quartermaster, assistant adjutant general, a CS (Commissary of Subsistence), and several unlisted staff positions.
