From the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of Battle Cry of Freedom, a powerful new reckoning with Jefferson Davis as military commander of the Confederacy that’s a must read

History has not been kind to Jefferson Davis. His cause went down in disastrous defeat and left the South impoverished for generations. If that cause had succeeded, it would have torn the United States in two and preserved the institution of slavery. Many Americans in Davis’s own time and in later generations considered him an incompetent leader, if not a traitor. Not so, argues James M. McPherson.

It comes directly from the link at the bottom of the post.
Yeah. Every article on that site is about conspiracy theories. If the book itself is similar to the company it keeps, that's not a recommendation.

It was one of the listings I got this morning in my Google alert email regarding Confederate news articles. I thought it looked interested so I posted it. You are free to ignore it if you wish.

Sounds like an interesting read, even more interesting will be how the Northern adherents will attempt to twist the words of one of their favourite historians.

The cover as shown states "NEW BOOK FROM AFP." That's a bit misleading. The book was published by Penguin Press.

ETA: On closer inspection, it appears to be an advertisement showing an altered book cover which itself shows a small copy of the actual cover. Very deceptive.
Good to know. The AFP falls squarely into the camp of "don't help," since I was assuming the book was the same quality as the rest of their articles. I wonder if the author is aware that this book is being promoted with an altered cover.
