Members of Ancient City Chapter 2232 and the General William W. Loring Camp 1316, along with children of Lee’s Legacy 946, met at the VFW Post in St. Augustine on June 9 to celebrate the 205th birthday of the only Confederate president, Jefferson Davis.
Davis, born in 1808, served the United States in several political positions, the highest of which was Secretary of War under President Pierce, and he became provisional president of the Confederacy in 1861 and then president in 1862.
