Um...yeah...I would not have eaten anything on General Lee's shoulder. Way too high off the ground for my likes. It is beautiful enough right there from the ground.
I have been here at the Marriott resort and convention facility in Stone Mountain park for two days at a meeting. Leaving tomorrow but I'm going over to the carving before I go
I've posted these on Throwback Thursday but will repeat them here since they concern Stone Mountain and its Confederate Memorial. These were taken in August, 1968, on my honeymoon and show me looking through binoculars at the then-unfinished carving above; and below my new bride Marilynn after we finished walking up the trail to the top.
