    Devil's Den Sharpshooter Study

A 6,000 word abridged version of Mr. Groves' research and artwork was published in the Sept. 1998 edition of the Civil War magazine "North and South". Before publishing, the editor informed the artist that all twenty four associate editors to the magazine also agreed with the evidence found and presented maintaining the Devil's Den Sharpshooter was an actuality. Filled with maps & photos

Not sure I agree with him 100% - but he presents an interesting case

Studying wonderful maps, such as this, ruined my eyes prematurely before the age of zoom. That being said, I had a "what if "discussion, w/ Ellanser,(miss ya if your still lurking) about a Union counter attack on day three after Pickets charge.I put forward the notion that a Union attack directly through Gettysburg would have a strong probability of success ,even though devastating to the village, and politically also. This map, I believe, shows that such an attack would have had a probable level of success ,in my humble opinion, splitting the Confederate Army, and improving Mead's chance to destroy the ANV.
