Folks probably already know of these, but there are several resources that are a great aid to people researching the American Civil War in Missouri. Here are the ones I commonly use, in no order of importance.

The War of the Rebellion: Original Records of the Civil War
https://ehistory.osu.edu/books/official-records

I have found this site extremely useful in accessing official reports in regards to the war in Missouri.

Missouri Digital Heritage Soldiers' Records: War of 1812 - World War I
https://s1.sos.mo.gov/records/archives/archivesdb/soldiers/#soldiersearch

Useful in seeing the personnel records of soldiers both Union and Confederate.

National Park Service: The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Database
https://www.nps.gov/civilwar/soldiers-and-sailors-database.htm

Also useful in finding out unit an individual soldier was a part of.

Missouri Provost Marshal Database
https://s1.sos.mo.gov/records/archives/archivesdb/provost/

This is handy on getting information on Oaths of Allegiance taken from civilians as well as arrests of those aiding the rebel cause.

Missouri Digital Heritage: Newspapers
https://www.sos.mo.gov/mdh/browse?id=12_6

Missouri Digital Heritage: Civil War
https://www.sos.mo.gov//mdh/CivilWar/Resources

A listing of all the Civil War resources at Missouri Digital Heritage

Some of the newspapers in the database date from the war and are useful in finding information on skirmishes, arrests, guerrilla activities that may be missing from official reports

Bureau of Land Management Records
https://glorecords.blm.gov/search/default.aspx
This is useful in helping locate skirmishes when property owner's names are mentioned.

There are also plenty of other resources that are handy online like newspapers.com, Google Books, newspaperarchive.com and archive.org. If you know of other resources feel free to list them!
