Anybody else catch this yesterday? Smells pretty fishy to me. Politics aside... (and it stinks of politics) every woman deserves access to breast screenings. I have always supported the Komen foundation and the annual walks, it is an amazing foundation, but now I find myself contemplating withholding my annual pledge.

new prez of Komen is a pro-life republican who ran and lost race for gov of GA. No consultation with state chairs. Sure smells.

This sucks. Why are people like this only pro-life until the person is born? At that point it becomes, to hades with you...

Yes, I saw that. Karen Handel. I realize the PP is always on the radar, and regardless of anyone's personal pro/life/choice status, it really looks like PP was dealt a dirty hand. Many women utilize the basic womens health screenings that PP has to offer. Not to mention the birth control. PP is a valuable organization, and a vital one for many women.

    Khale,
Thanks for the break down on the numbers, was looking for that and hadn't found it.

    But I did find this:

The medical field has become very politicized. There's a disturbing undercurrent of "you only deserve health care - that is you only deserve to live - if you share my political beliefs."

After I found out Komen was using donated funds in litigation against other organizations using "for the cure" in their slogan I stopped supporting Komen.

I don't really care whether or not they donate to Planned Parenthood, as long as the money they are saving isn't being tied up in some retarded litigation against another cancer awareness organization.

I just saw that Komen has reversed its decision and will now fund Planned Parenthood.

So one organization works at saving lives so it can pay money to one that advocates TAKING lives?

Ain't it the truth.. Doctors asking patients if they have firearms in the home... trying to make gun control a medical/health issue when everyone knows gun control is acheived thru proper sight picture and lots of practice..

I guess if the doctor was talking to a depressed person, that would be a valid question.

Nancy Goodman Brinker, the founder and C.E.O of Susan G. Komen For the Cure, named the organization for her sister who died from breast cancer. Time magazine honored her for her work on breast cancer research. In Aug. 2009, President Obama honored Brinker with the Presidential Medal of Freedom (nation's highest civilian honor), and called her "a catalyst to ease suffering in the world".

No, it is becoming a routine screening question. I was asked recently by a physician if I felt threatened by anyone in my household... Uugh, there is me and Malinda, and she is now down to 93 pounds following her recent surgery, and I am the one with all the guns... nah, I don't feel threatened

No. One advocates stopping support to one which advocates saving lives.

Uh, I understand that Planned Parenthood advocates abortions...on one hand they uphold Women's Health, but are pro abortion?

Please understand more. See the pie chart above.

    No one is "pro abortion."

One could also say... "On one hand, they are pro-life, but they deny cancer screening for the poor?"
