1861- STAR OF THE WEST leaves for Fort Sumter.
1862-Stonewall Jackson's troops advance to Bath (Berkley Springs) and Union troops under General Lander flee.
1863-C.S.A. take 200 prisoners around Jonesville,Va. After pitched battle.
1864-Col.Mosby sent a 25 man party to Warrenton,Va. And captured 25 prisoners and 40 Union Horses.
1865-Skirmish near McMinnville,Tennessee.

Jefferson Davis comes out in favor of secession for the first time

1861

At the last minute General Winfield Scott substitutes the Star of the West, a New York based merchant marine vessel for the Brooklyn, a heavily armed and reinforced sloop ordered to sail to Fort Sumter to resupply the federal outpost. The Brooklyn, however, is to travel to Fort Sumter with the Star of the West.
