I saw rum cake mentioned. I can do a decent rum cake with a recipe from my mother. The 'secret' is in the glaze. In Michigan I think you have to be 18 or older with picture ID to eat any of my rum cake.
Sounds like my kinda fruit cake...We soak the dried fruit in cider for several days prior, then baste the cake with rum or brandy after it's finished baking.
How about Bourbon balls? I have great recipe for them.

Mmmm, I'll bet that was one tasty cake! I used apricot brandy last year. I had people who swore they hated fruitcake, begging for seconds!
