The farm was under siege during the war by both Confederate and Union soldiers, who picked the property clean of its cattle and crops before leaving it in ruin.

A Columbia property that played a role during Civil War occupation could receive a fresh update and renovation pending a contract for purchase.
The former Nimrod Porter farm sits on 20 acres located in the 3000 block of Campbellsville Pike. It was once a vast 500-acre farm developed by Porter, a former Maury County sheriff, but was under siege during the war by both Confederate and Union soldiers, who picked the property clean of its cattle and crops before leaving it in ruin.
