To all of our Civil War Book Readers!

Starting in June, we would like to invite you to vote for the book you think is worthy of the title "Civil War Book of the Month - June 2013".

You can choose a book that's appropriate for the Sesquicentennial of June 1863, or one that has been recently published. Basically, this is the Civil War work that history lovers should be reading this month!

First, I'll need a volunteer to keep track of the suggestions / votes.

Then, any member can begin suggesting the books they think should be the "Book of the Month" or BotM!

A deadline will be set for all suggestions, and then, a poll will be setup with the top 5 or to 10 suggestions, and voting for the BotM will begin!

Any volunteers to help run the Book of the Month feature?

This is a wonderful idea.

For a book for June, I recommend "The Longest Raid of the Civil War" by Lester V. Horwitz. The 150th Anniversary will be at beginning of July. The Longest Raid was a grueling ride on horseback for over 1000 miles through four states beginning in McMinnville Tennessee to West Point Ohio. General John Hunt Morgan began his raid with 2500 calvary and surrenendered in Columbiana County, Ohio with about 350 very tired remaining men.

This seems appropriate book to commemorate this event.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep a tally until we find a volunteer to host this feature.

While I'm at it, I'll add this suggestion, a pretty new book which is appropriate for the coming month:
The New Gettysburg Campaign Handbook, by J. David Petruzzi and Steven Stanley
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007QTS46K/?tag=civilwartalkc-20

Basically all a volunteer has to do is count suggestions replied to a thread and set up a poll at the end of a month with the top 5 or 10 suggestions?

Basically, and the book with the most votes will be put on the homepage.

I'm as new and green as they come, and have no idea how to set up a poll. If someone will give me instructions, I am glad to volunteer.

Here's the book you want for the 150th celebration. Discover how the odd connection of the Battles of Gettysburg, Vicksburg, and Helena, fought 150 yrs ago and ending on the same 4th. of July, prompted the story of Ambrose.

Ambrose Civil War Journey was published on March 21, 2013 and has already been transferred to the archival library of the U.S. Army Heritage & Education Center (USAHEC) by the Board of Directors. Now a component of the USAHEC ' unparraleled collection of historical resources. It will forever be available at the heritage library for future researchers seeking to learn more about American Soldiers during the Civil War. In additon there are two Book signings scheduled.

Follow the life of Ambrose Cobb on a four year journey. See how the CW journey continues through to today, Battlefields now sanctified by a grateful nation and descendants of Ambrose among today's Patriot Sons.

Please consider this book for the club read in June.

June 1st is Saturday. So I guess chellers and jgoodguy are going to select the book for June or set up poll.

Thanks for volunteering. I think this a great idea.
I think we are going to keep nominations going until June 10th, I'm starting to push this thread.

If you have additional suggestions, feel free to post them!
