Charge of the 54th Massachusetts-Newspaper

It is always interesting to read the actual newspapers of the day. This particular paper has news of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry and their charge at Fort Wagner. The paper is dated July 31, 1863. It is also interesting that it highlights that there is an exchange of prisoners and the Confederates are not willing to exchange wounded soldiers of the 54th.

They were brave men it is a shame that more people do not know the whole story of these gallant men and their fight for freedom God bless them.
