Sherman Bummers total war? Corruption what do you think.

I believe Sherman said it best when he said war is all hell. And then he chastised the women who complained to him by saying you started this war when you fired on Fort Sumter now it has been brought to your doorstep.
 
He spared Savannah. He spared Charleston. Very few recorded accounts of violence against women by Bummers. Aside from the incident at Ebenezer Creek, I think the March was performed admirably.
And also aside from the burning of Columbia, which apparently went overboard. The soldiers themselves wanted vengeance on the South Carolina capital, which they saw as the originating source of all the evil, misery, suffering and torment they'd endured for the past four years. And Sherman didn't do much to stop them.
