I had heard that Lincoln and Booth were once caught in the same photo together but had never looked into it. Upon closer examination of a photo of Lincoln's second inaugural address its true.

How can we be certain that it is Booth? It reminds me of the "Hitler in the Munich crowd" photograph below:

It's a well known fact that Booth attended the address with some of the other conspirators and had shared with others where he had stood and is actually quoted saying something along the lines that he could have killed Lincoln that day had he wanted to.

I was almost convinced until you said "well known fact". Then I did a little research -here is an interesting discussion http://boothiebarn.com/2012/05/31/booth-at-lincolns-second-inauguration/ If there is a photograph of Booth identified at the inauguration, it's not the one you posted. Personally, I am very skeptical. Not that he was there, but that is him in the photo.

This is the photograph that is usually referred to. Booth is indicated by arrow. 1173-4144-1-PB.jpg

He certainly would have had the fame to get a prominent place in the crowd.

Good link Shattuck, I was going off of what I saw on the History Channel awhile back when it comes to the photo, I had previously known he was there but couldnt have picked him out of the address picture(s). Both images certainly appear as if they could be him, either way he was in that general area, that much is known so it could be either one of the men identified as Booth.

I've read somewhere awhile ago that some of the others conspirators were there as well. I believe the photo that I saw showed several of them below Lincoln in the photo.

Does anyone happen to know if he regularly wore a top hat like the one worn by the proposed Booth in the photo? I've seen a few pictures with him wearing hats but in most he is not wearing one at all and the ones in which he is wearing a hat its not of that style.

Didn't we do a study on this and I thought we found another conspirator near Booth

If he was going to the inauguration, Booth well may have put on a top hat since it was a formal occasion up until JFK. IMO, just because we know he was there and a tiny, blurry face in the crowd resembles him is hardly conclusive evidence. One scholar made the ID in 1956 and now "it is generally accepted by historians." I think it gives us a resounding maybe. The evidence for the conspirators is even shakier. Perhaps we are seeing what we want to see.
