Hello all back from my hunting seasons and now back to family research, would anyone have any information on the 20th VA cavalry especially the men from Harrison, West Virginia, I have contacted the historical society their but for now nothing yet. I am looking for a roster for C0 F Lt. A.B Young and where they served ( I have found cards on Fold 3 ) also a book that published but that is very expensive and out of print. Any help greatly appreciated as this will also used for vacation next year to see where my family came from. Thank you George

The 20th Virginia Cavalry Regiment was made up of men from what is now the State of West Virginia.

The makeup of the 20th was as follows:
Companies A and B from Marion and Monongalia Counties, Company C from Highland and Randolph
Company D from Highland and Barbour
Companies E and F from Harrison
Company G from Wood and Pleasants
Company H from Calhoun, Richie, Wirt
Company I from Bath

Co. I, raised in Bath County. Commanded by Capt. Henry Heiskell

Shortly after the Battle of Droop Mountain most of the 19th Va. Cav. was merged into the 20th Virginia Cavalry so essentially the two regiments are one and the same.

Barrycdog, Thank you very much, I just ordered the book on 19th and 20th VA cavalry VA Regimental Histories, my 4x grandmother was his aunt ( Anna Young Mark ), we just started finding this out a few months ago when we properly identified the 3x g-mother, I missed it before due to another 2 marriages, needless to say this has really opened up the search parameters.
