I find all pictures of Confederates officers or soldiers of intrest as there are fewer of them than the Union side. This one I have not seen before. Thanks.

This appears to be an image of both officers and men from Wood's Confederate Cavalry, AKA Wirt Adams Regiment / 1st mississippi Cavalry. All of the names appear in the fold3 service records of Wood's Cavalry.

I did notice many records reflected some of the men had been in the Tensas Cavalry. Apparently the unit was consolidated with Woods ??

Probably the photo was taken in 1861, when the rules for the colors of the kepi was not defined. What kind of color will have this caps?

I am not familiar with color variations of Confederate kepis. There do seem to be different colors in this black & white photo, at least more than one would attribute to lighting. The guy to the right in the flipped version has an officer's belt buckle and his cap looks to be darker than the others.
