Here are the questions for Week 5 of Game # 53

1. What U.S.C.T. Medal of Honor recipient had the same full name (first, middle, last) as a Union Major General (USV)?

2. In an 1862 battle near Charleston, South Carolina in which Union casualties outnumbered those of the Confederates by more than three to one, two immigrant brothers, unknowingly fought against each other. One was a Union color sergeant, the other a Confederate lieutenant. Name them.

3. In the state of Kentucky there are two monuments which honor both Union and Confederate soldiers. In what two cities are these monuments located?

4. Two U.S. presidents hired substitutes to serve in their place during the war. Name them and their respective substitutes.

So far, I've been able to find the answer to only one question. Since I may not be able to get back to a computer between now and 6 PM Saturday, I'll enter that answer now.

4. George Brinski substituted for Grover Cleveland and John Summerfield Staples substituted for Abraham Lincoln.

If I have a chance to find more answers before the deadline, I'll enter another post.

Ok, here's my (short) report:Travelled from NYC down to Florida (Destin) and returned via Alabama (the Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville is awsome), Tennessee, Virginia. Saw the Monitor's turret at the very interesting Marine Museum in Newport News and visited Ball's Bluff, Bentonville and Franklin (all battlefields where I hadn't been before) because, according to my dear spouse "this is NOT going to be another Civil War battlefields trip!" Anyway, I had a great time....
