Default Trivia Game # 49 - Week 2

Trivia Game # 49 - Week 2

I’m just going to number each week’s questions 1 thru 5 from now on.

Here are the questions for Week 2:

1. He overcame an early fear of horses to become a famed Cavalry Commander. Name him.

2. A certain general was wearing another general’s coat when he was killed in a Tennessee battle. Name the general killed and the owner of the coat he was wearing.

3. We all know that Johnny Yuma was a rebel (Private?), who roamed through the West, and wandered alone. Well, can you name two characters (in the starring roles) of late ‘50s - early ‘60s American television Westerns whose back-stories were that they had been Union officers (field or company, not NCOs) during the Civil War? Name the programs and the names of the characters (you can also name the actors, if you wish, but I need the names of the characters).

4. This Kentucky native, practiced law in his adopted state, and was member of that state’s legislature. When the war commenced, he enlisted as a private, saw action at Corinth, Perryville, Murfreesboro, and was wounded at Chickamauga. Attaining the rank of Colonel, he was brevetted Brigadier General. Post war he was appointed a US District Attorney, and was later elected to his state senate. Name him.

5. Name Game, Part 1:
Two Confederate generals and one Union brevet general shared identical first and middle names. Both Confederates were at Shiloh, and were cavalrymen. The Union general was a Medal of Honor recipient. Name these three generals.

Answers are due by Saturday, Nov. 17, at 6:00pm (eastern).

Good Luck!

Default Week 2 - Clarification #3

Question 3:

One of our players has found several possible answers, but wants clarification. The question involves whether a program which was from the early 60's but not the late 50's would qualify.

To clarify, by "late '50's - early '60's" the question is asking for programs and characters which spanned the period, that is, started in the late '50's and continued into the early '60's. Both the program and the character must span that period.

Question 5 - a (non)clarification:

A player has asked about Question #5. The question concerns the "Two Confederate generals" ... who "were at Shiloh". The player asks if the two held the rank of general when they were at Shiloh.

I'm not going to say yes or no about either or both of them, that would give away a bit too much, I think, so I'll just say not necessarily.
