Default Trivia Game # 44 - Week 4

16. Confederates (1862)

17. Benjamin Butler (canal was completed in 1871)

18. I expect Tullahoma to be the answer (tho several sources say that it is Choctaw for "red dirt", and also that it came instead from the Greek language. Since the question is almost identical with one, in one of Webb Garrison's CW trivia books, I'll guess that is the answer you are looking for.)

19. Ambassador to Spain

20. John Robert Baylor

Two days ago i visited the new Texas Civil War Museum in Fort Worth. It has Spoons's coat, sash, hat and boots. The coat surprised me with its svelteness. Please excuse blatant plug but the museum is a fine place.

16- Twasn't very long at all before the Confeddies felt the bite of the manpower crunch- enacting a Congressional Act of Conscription 16 April, '62 predating the Union's national draft by almost a full year;

17- USA General Ben Butler's Dutch Gap Canal project, keeping him and his men busy and out of trouble;

18- Tullahoma, Tennessee;

19- Carl Schurz was appointed Minister to Spain before returning stateside to take a more direct hand in the conflict;

20- The Texan Col John Baylor, having led a mob of his Texicans on a 'buffalo hunt' west from Ft Bliss- in reality to secure the Arizona Territory to the Confederacy.
