Looks like quite a tight fit!

Welcome back to Sockknitter! Delighted to see you again after your long absence. Please be assured that you (and any of our other players) are welcome to insert plugs for Civil War-related museums or historical sites any time you want to.

SamGrant and Sarladaise remain tied in the First Division, while we have a three-way tie for first in the Second Division among ewc, Rad2duhbone53, and RivrRat, all with perfect scores of 24 points each, while three other Second Division players are within one point of the lead.

The answers to the questions for Week 4:

16. The Confederates were first to institute a draft, in April 1862. The Federal government didn’t institute a draft until March 1863.

17. The inventive Benjamin Butler dreamed up the idea of the canal, though it was never completed.

18. Tullahoma is the town whose name (in some language or other, anyway) means mud.

19. Schurz was named U.S. Minister to Spain. Schurz chafed in the role and eventually resigned and asked Lincoln for a military commission, which Lincoln gave to him.

20. Lt. Col. John R. Baylor of Texas evidently figured that, since he and 300 other Confederates had established the territory, he might as well be governor of it. Baylor served as governor until Jeff Davis removed him in 1862.

The scores at the end of Week 4:

FIRST DIVISION

SamGrant 24
Sarladaise 24

SECOND DIVISION

ewc 24
Rad2duhbone53 24
RivrRat 24
