Answers to the questions for Week 4 will be due by 6 PM EDT on Saturday, October 21.
The source from which I drew question 19 indicated that the leader of the Confederates about whom Cincinnati was so worried was a colonel.
I have since discovered that, in fact, the man had been commissioned a brigadier general some time before the expedition in question started.
SamGrant, Sarladaise, and Ginefur4 all named the commander I had in mind. Since their sources evidently agreed with mine, they will receive credit for their answers.
Rad2duhbone53 and Robert B. Condon both named men who were, in fact, colonels serving under that commander on that expedition. I commend both of you for digging up this information and you will also receive credit for your answers.
Jamieva submitted no answer to the question. Jamieva, if the information that the commander was, in fact, a general at the time helps you to answer the question, feel free to submit another post with an answer for question 19.
Anybody submitting answers after this should be advised that I will expect you to name the general commanding the Confederate troopers.
