Here are the answers to the questions for Week 4.
16. Ellen married Union general George McClellan.
17. Henry A. Wise signed the warrant for Brown’s execution.
18. The Confederama is at Chattanooga, at the foot of Lookout Mountain.
19. Cincinnati feared an attack from troopers led by John Hunt Morgan, who were moving east from Indiana. Morgan’s raiders actually bypassed Cincinnati, riding between that city and Hamilton, OH, to the north. As noted earlier, when I composed the question, I was looking at a source that said Morgan was a colonel at the time of his July 1863 raid, but other sources indicate that he was commissioned a brigadier general in December, 1862. Although John Hunt Morgan’s name was most prominent on the minds of the Cincinnati authorities, I accepted the answers of Basil Duke and Richard Morgan, both of whom were colonels under Morgan’s command during that raid.
20. The coastal village of Hampton was destroyed.
CSA General John Magruder ordered the residents evacuated and their houses burned, because he had heard that Ben Butler was planning to use the village to house escaped slaves.
There are no changes at the top of the scoreboard, as SamGrant and Robert B. Condon continue to lead the First Division with perfect scores and Rad2duhbone53 continues to lead the Second Division.
