Congratulations to Robert B. Condon, winner of the First Division, and to Sarladaise, winner of the Second Division for Game # 41. A special salute

to Sarladaise, who for the second time has finished a game with a perfect score and has thus earned promotion to the First Division for future games.
Here are the answers to the questions for Week 6.
26. The Field of Lost Shoes, where a number of VMI cadets lost their footwear in the mud as they went charging across, is at New Market.
27. Ewell was captured at Sailor’s Creek (there are numerous spelling variants), just days before Lee’s surrender at Appomattox.
28. Nathan Bedford Forrest, irate over Bragg’s failure to immediately follow up his victory at Chickamauga, addressed Bragg thusly.
29. Christopher Memminger, who would become the secretary of the treasury, chaired the committee.
30. John McGavock, the owner of the house, called it “Carnton House,” which was the answer I was going for, but it was also the house of the McGavock family, so I accepted the answer of “McGavock House.” After the battle, McGavock collected and buried the bodies of nearly 1,500 Confederate soldiers killed there (though those included none of the generals who had reposed on the house’s porch). According to my source and to 20thMass's (who, unfortunately, misread the question), the five generals were H.B. Granbury, O.F. Strahl, States Rights Gist, John Adams, and Patrick Cleburne. Robert B. indicates that recent research suggests that only four of them actually wound up on the porch, though I don't know which one might not have been there.
