6- Lt Genl AP Hill during the fall of Petersburg;

7- 'Stable Call' is the bugle call that summons the troopers to stable to care for and feed their mounts. Given the importance of horses to the cavalry, Stable Call preceeds 'Breakfast Call;'

8- Glory just about my favorite movie;

9- Simpson was Grant's mother's maiden name. The Congressman who sponsored Grant to West Point incorrectly submitted what he thought young Hiram's name to be, and, upon reaching West Point, Grant being Grant, decided to hell with the red tape to change it and kept the name as is;

10- Lt Genl John Clifford Pemberton- misguided perhaps, but a loyal Confederate, and a bugaboo to Southern nationalists then to now hehe.

After two weeks of play in Game # 41, Sam Grant has moved into the lead in the First Division, while we still have a four-way logjam at the top of the Second Division.

Here are the answers to the questions for Week 2.

6. A. P. Hill, killed on April 2, 1865, was the last Confederate West Point graduate to die before the end of the war. James Dearing’s death did occur subsequent to that of Hill, but Dearing resigned from West Point in 1861 to join the Confederacy, so he was not a West Point graduate.

7. “Stable Call” signaled that it was time for men to feed and tend to the horses. Horses received their breakfast before the men did.

8. “Glory,” perhaps the first Civil War film to acknowledge racism on the Union side, portrayed the attack on Fort Wagner.

9. Simpson was the maiden (not the middle) name of Grant’s mother.

10. Philadelphia-born John Pemberton attained the rank of lieutenant general, but his rank was reduced after he surrendered to Grant at Vicksburg.

The scores at the end of Week 2:

FIRST DIVISION

SamGrant 12
Robert B. Condon 11
Aggie80 5

SECOND DIVISION

20thMass 12
ewc 12
Rad2duhbone53 12
Sarladaise 12
Texaswildcat 10
bgl1952 5
