Default Trivia Game # 38 - Week 2

I知 going to be out of the house from about 5:30 until about 9:00, so I値l post the questions for Week 2 now.

Those of you who have not yet posted answers to the questions for Week 1 still have time to do so. I値l give you a little extra time past the normal 6 PM deadline - if you get your answers posted before I get in tonight, they will count as being in on time.

Here are the questions for Week 2 of Game # 38.

6. The stories of what Union brevet brigadier general supposedly inspired Stephen Crane to write "The Red Badge of Courage"?

7. How many justices served on the Confederate States Supreme Court?

8. What former US President was elected to the Confederate House of Representatives?

9. At the request of his son Tad, Abraham Lincoln once granted a presidential reprieve to a condemned animal. What was the animal?

10. What Confederate general's widow worked as a riveter in a WWII defense plant?

Answers to the questions for Week 2 will be due by 6 PM EDT on Saturday, April 22.

Good luck!

After two weeks of play in Game # 38, we have SamGrant and bgl1952 leading the First and Second Divisions, respectively, with perfect scores of 12 points each. (It's going to be tough for Sam to be caught in that First Division.)

Here are the answers to the questions for Week 2:

6. We had a lot of different answers for this question this week, but according to Robert B. Condon, our Q&A supplier for Game # 38, Crane was inspired to write "The Red Badge of Courage" by the stories of Union brevet brigadier general John Bullock Van Petten.

7. The correct answer to question 7 is none. No one ever served on the Confederate States Supreme Court. Although the Court was provided for by the Confederate Constitution, it was never formally created by the Congress due to a dispute over the issue of whether the Court should have the power to overrule decisions of the supreme courts of the states.

8. John Tyler, tenth President of the US was elected but died before the House convened.

9. Lincoln pardoned Jack, the White House turkey.

10. The way this question was worded, you could answer either with the name of the general or the name of his wife. Helen Dortch Longstreet, widow of James Longstreet, worked at the Bell Aircraft plant in Marietta, Georgia during WW II.

The scores at the end of Week 2:

FIRST DIVISION

SamGrant 12

SECOND DIVISION

bgl1952 12
Sarladaise 11
Miss Markie 9
ewc 5
Traveller 4
Texaswildcat 3
