21. General Rufus Ingalls, Quartermaster.

22. Two possible answers to this one! I suspect you were expecting the first one, but the second one appears to answer the question also.

Northern Y's formed the U.S. Christian Commission to assist the troops and prisoners of war. The Christian Commission was founded on 16th Nov, 1861 in New York. http://www.racw.org/civilian/uscc.htm provides excellent details.

According to the Hammandsport YMCA site -> Ys first participated in American wars with the May 1861 creation of the Army Committee by the New York Association. It also mentions the other organization but does not provide a year for it.

23. Brigadier General Douglas Hancock Cooper in 1853 was appointed by President Franklin Pierce U.S. agent to the Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory and in 1861 he was deputed by the Confederate government to secure the allegiance of the Indians.

24. A type of mortar originally designed by Menno Van Coehorn in 1673.

25. Brigadier General Raleigh Edward Colston

Welcome to our newest player, lrd89, for whom I have a question.

Is the first letter in your user name a capital I or a lower-case L? If it is a lower-case L, would you like me to show it as a capital L on the scoreboard in the future?

Our three First Division players have continued their flawless performances through Week 5. In the Second Division, Sarladaise has moved into the lead with a score of 29 points.

The answers to the questions for Week 5:

21. Rufus Ingalls was in charge at City Point.

22. The YMCA of New York City created the U.S. Christian Commission.

23. Douglas Cooper influenced the Choctaw tribe to declare for the Confederacy.

24. A coehorn was a type of mortar.

25. Raleigh Colston was born in Paris and was the adopted son of a Virginia physician.

The scoreboard after Week 5:

FIRST DIVISION

Aggie80 30
Robert B. Condon 30
SamGrant 30

SECOND DIVISION

Sarladaise 29
Sockknitter 24
Texaswildcat 20
Traveller 20
Bama Belle 6
ewc 6
Wild Rose 5
lrd89 2
