Default Trivia Game # 36 - Week 3

I had some problems accessing the website earlier this evening, but they seem to have cleared up.

Here are the questions for Week 3 of Game # 36.

11. The final Confederate land victory of the Civil War was achieved May 12-13, 1865 at what battle?

12. John Wilkes Booth’s plan for the assassination of Lincoln called for the assassination of Secretary of State Seward as well. The co-conspirator who attempted to kill Seward is most commonly known today by the name Lewis Paine, but when he served in the Confederate Army, he went by a different last name. What was the name under which “Paine” served in the Confederate Army?

13. Who was the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives at the conclusion of the Civil War?

14. According to one theory, the term “Dixie” derives from bank notes of a particular denomination issued by New Orleans banks. What denomination were these notes?

15. (Two point question) What future Civil War naval officer was the first superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy?

Answers to the questions for Week 3 will be due by 6 PM EST Saturday, February 4.

Good luck!
