Here are the answers to the questions for Week 6, the final week of Game # 35.

26. The ceremony in which Anderson took part was raising the U.S. flag (the same one he had pulled down) over the same fort. The event was considerably overshadowed by the incident at Ford’s Theatre that evening.

27. The difference between horse artillery and mounted artillery lay in the way the soldiers who manned the cannons traveled. The crews of horse artillery batteries all traveled by horse, making them very mobile and well-suited for use with cavalry. Mounted artillery crews walked or, depending on conditions, ran alongside their pieces.

28. Confederate Lt. Gen. Richard Taylor was the son of President Zachary Taylor.

29. The meeting was held in Cokesbury, SC, at the home of the mother of Martin Witherspoon Gary, who was escorting Davis and his cabinet south after Appomattox.

30. My source said the monument honors the 2nd Maryland Infantry, CSA. Several of you indicated some confusion as to whether it was really the 2nd Maryland or the 1st Maryland, but everybody mentioned the 2nd Maryland, so I gave everybody credit.

For those interested in seeing it, the monument is located on Culp’s Hill, next to a very sharp left-hand turn as you follow the road up the hill.

We have a three-way tie for the championship of the First Division, with CindyScoops, RaggedRebel, and SamGrant sharing the honors, all with perfect scores of 36 points. Winner of the Second Division, also with a perfect score of 36 points, is Robert B. Condon.

Congratulations to all the winners. Since this is Robert B.'s second time with a perfect score, he has earned promotion to the First Division.

Final scores for Game # 35.
