Welcome to our newest player, MilHistBuff1.

Here are the answers to the questions for Week 5.

21. Col. William Tecumseh Sherman commanded the brigade of which the 2nd Wisconsin was a part. Lt. Col. H. W. Peck commanded the regiment.

22. George Greene, born May 6, 1801 (a former West Point instructor of Cadet Robert E. Lee) was the oldest general to participate in the Battle of Gettysburg. Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene would have been a whole lot older than George, but he did not participate in the Battle of Gettysburg.

23. Gen. A. P. Hill. One of Hill’s last orders was to tell Tucker, “Should anything happen to me, you must go back to General Lee and report it.” Tucker obeyed the order after Hill was shot. The same Sgt. Tucker subsequently accompanied Lee to his meeting with Grant at Appomattox Court House.

24. Without teeth, they would not be able to bite off the ends of the powder cartridges used with the muzzle-loading firearms of the era.

25. My original source says “Faithful until Death,” but other sources say “Faithful unto Death.” I gave credit for both answers.

The scores at the end of Week 5:
