The answers to the questions for Week 2:
.
6. Burgwyn was the youngest colonel in the Confederate army, only 21 years old at the time of his death. (Sorry, FSPowers, but I didn't feel I could give credit for your response that he was "one of the" youngest.)
7. Lt. Todd’s half-sister was First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln.
8. The town that would eventually be known as Atlanta was known as Marthasville in 1844. The town was originally founded as a railroad terminus and given the generic name “Terminus,” but in 1843 the citizens decided to change the name of the town. They wanted to name it after their mayor (and former Georgia governor) Wilson Lumpkin, but Lumpkin already had another city and a county named for him. He suggested that he would feel sufficiently honored if the town were named after his daughter, Martha, instead, and so it was. The town acquired its ultimate name of Atlanta in 1845.
9. Young led the Confederate raid on St. Albans, VT.
10. Jesse James fired the shot that killed Johnston.
SamGrant entered a post addressed to CindyScoops, and somehow it got lost when I approved the threads for posting this week. The gist of the post was that Sam complimented Cindy on her impressive knowledge of Civil War facts and invited her to join in some of the discussions on the other boards here at CivilWarTalk.
Cindy, we're happy to have you here on the trivia game, whether or not you feel like posting on any of the other boards. I'm just passing Sam's invitation on to you.
