Sorry to be a little late posting the answers for Week 6. Today's activites lasted considerably longer than I had expected.
Here are the answers to the Week 6 questions.
26. False. The inventor of the Sibley tent was Mexican War veteran and Confederate general Henry Hopkins Sibley. Union General Henry Hastings Sibley, his cousin, commanded Minnesota troops against the Sioux Indians during the time of the Civil War.
27. Former SC Governor John H. Means was killed at the second Battle of Manassas.
28A. The capital of Confederate Arizona was Mesilla, just outside of present day Las Cruces, NM.
29. Galusha Pennypacker was the youngest man to become a general. Born in 1844, he became a general before his 21st birthday.
30. As they crossed the river on their way out of Maryland, the troops requested that the band play “Carry Me Back to Old Virginny,” which they deemed more appropriate to the situation.
For those who are wondering why I threw out the original Question 28 - the source from which I drew the question was an article written by someone who was apparently a big fan of Herman Haupt. Although Daniel McCallum was the head of the USMRR, the article I read focused entirely on the exploits of Haupt and never mentioned McCallum at all. The author evidently tried to distinguish Haupt by calling him "field commander," but that was not an official title. If McCallum ever got out from behind his desk and went into the field, he would presumably have had as much right to be called "field commander" as Haupt did.
We once again have four people who finished the game with perfect scores, though they aren't all the same four people who did so in Game 29. Congratulations to Aggie80, Cindyscoops, Raggedrebel, and Sarladaise.
