Default Trivia Game # 30 - Week 2

Here are the questions for Week 2 of Game # 30.

6. There were a number of Zouave regiments on both sides during the Civil War. Why did the regiment commanded by Col. Elmer Ellsworth bear the distinctive name of "New York Fire Zouaves?"

7. Capt. Oliver Wendell Holmes reportedly gave President Lincoln some good advice while Lincoln was visiting Fort Stevens, though he used a form of address not normally used by soldiers addressing their commander-in-chief. How did Holmes address Lincoln? (You may give me the complete quote if you want, but correct answers must contain two specific words in a specific order.)

8. According to the 1860 census, what city was the third most populous in the United States?

9. The basic training manual for both armies at the beginning of the Civil War was "Rifle and Light Infantry Tactics," a pocket-sized two-volume textbook written by a former West Point commandant who became a Confederate general. What was this author's name?

10. (Two point question) What Civil War general served as rector of the church of which Robert E. Lee was a member of the vestry after the Civil War?

Answers to the questions for Week 2 will be due on by 6 PM EDT on April 16.

They further established their reputation when the Willard was struck by fire. Ellsworth ordered 100 of his men to assist and the entire regiment responded. The Zouaves performed daring feats to battle the blaze. The New York firemen impressed the people of the District of Columbia with their firefighting abilities.

7. "Get down, you fool!"

8. Brooklyn, NY was the third largest city, after New York and Philadelphia.

9. William Hardee's Rifle and Light Infantry Tactics
