6- Prof. TSC Lowe, a Yankee aerialist, landed at Unionville, SC, 20 April, '61, just days after the firing on Ft Sumter. He was on a test flight from Cincinnati for a Trans-Atlantic flight. This however failed to assuage the natives, who wetre convinced he was rather a nefarious Yankee spy. His reputation as a balloonist however secured his release and he returned North to put his services to use for the Union;
7- 'Taps'- General Daniel Butterfield;
8- 'Father Neptune'- President Lincoln's Secretary of the Navy, Gideon Welles;
9- Brownell, of the Fire Zouaves, accompanied his commander Colonel Elmer Ephraim Ellsworth to the roof of the Marshall House, an inn in Alexandria Virginia to retrieve a Confederate flag displayed there, at the time of the Union occupation of the place, 24 May '61. As Ellsworth descended the steps with the flag, he was shot by James Jackson, the inn's owner. Brownell lunged at Jackson, but was not able to deflect the shot away from Ellsworth, who was killed; Brownell blasted and bayoneted Jackson, killing him. The award was granted in 1877 for this action. Brownell later in '61 received an officer's commission in the Regular Army;

We have some new players this week. Always glad to have some fresh fish for the trivia game.
I did notice that one of the new players has entered the same post twice.
In case any new players are wondering why their posts haven't shown up on the board yet, the way the game works is that your posts will not appear on the board until after the moderator (me) approves them. I won't approve any posts, other than my own, until after the 6:00 PM Saturday deadline, because otherwise players who haven't entered their responses yet would be able to see other people's answers, and obviously I don't want that to happen.
