    Brig. General Roger Atkinson Pryor of the C.S.A. became a justice of New York Supreme Court after the war. An informative and interesting book written by his wife (Sara) tells about his (and her) life and how they coped during the war. The book is entitled "Reminiscences of Peace and War"

    Pryor, Roger Atkinson (1828-1919) Born near Petersburg, Dinwiddie County, Va., July 19, 1828. Democrat. U.S. Representative from Virginia 4th
    District, 1859-61; Delegate from Virginia to the Confederate Provisional Congress, 1861-62; Representative from Virginia in the Confederate Congress, 1862; general in the Confederate Army during the Civil War; delegate to Democratic National Convention from New York, 1876; common pleas court judge, 1890-94; Justice of New York Supreme Court, 1894-99. Died in New York City, N.Y., March 14, 1919. Interment at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, N.J. See also: congressional biography.

    Roger Atkinson Pryor was a Confederate General from Virginia who moved to New York after the war and became a New York State Supreme Court Justice.

    This one was tricky - This person wasn't listed as being part of the crew, however this was his station - stationed on the USS Monitor - He was an african american and his name was Thomas L. Taylor - died March 7, 1932 at the age of 84 years old. (I found evidence that another person was the oldest, but I found that he died July 16, 1931 which would discredit him as being the last survivor - Charles H. Holt at 83 years old - Taylor outlived him by 8 months)

    A black sailor by the name of Thomas Taylor, was the last survivor of the Union ironclad Monitor. He died in 1932 at the ripe old age of 84.

    Admiral Franklin Buchanan surrendered the CSS Ironclad Tennessee after its steering had been disabled. Buchanan was badly injured and Comdr. James Johnston was assigned command but the Admiral, Commander and crew were captured.
