Couldn't find anything on this...I'll go with VA for the obvious reasons....Va furnished the most troops, fought mostly in and around the state, and the West Virginia situation....
If it isn't the obvious, it is probably N.C. LOL

He was killed by a connonball shot fired by Major Gen. Quincy A. Gillmore's artillery while bombarding to fort on 3/3/63.

Poor Tom Cat was killed by an exploding shell during a bombardment of the fort. Different sources give different dates for when the unfortunate event occurred, but the majority opinion seems to be that it happened in March, 1863.

Tom Cat was killed by an exploding shell (Mar 03 1863, Tuesday).
