"The Confederate cruiser called at Singapore in December 1863, but soon was back at sea to continue her commerce raiding. However, Alabama was increasingly in need of an overhaul and only captured a few ships in 1864. On 11 June of that year, Captain Semmes brought her to Cherbourg, France, for repairs. The Union steam sloop Kearsarge soon arrived off the port, and, on 19 June the Alabama steamed out to do battle. In an hour of intense combat, she was reduced to a sinking wreck by the Kearsarge's guns. As Alabama disappeared beneath the surface, her surviving crewmen were rescued by the victorious Federal warship and by the English yacht Deerhound. Her wreck was located by the French Navy in the 1980s"

That noted admirer of southern culture- William Tecumseh Sherman.
'It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag'

    -Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC.

Probably, you mean Jefferson Davis' 1st Cabinet...

    1. Judah P. Benjamin of Louisiana
    2. Stephen R. Mallory of Florida
    3. Christopher G. Memminger of South Carolina
    4. John H. Reagan of Texas
    5. Robert Toombs of Georgia
    6. Leroy P. Walker of Alabama
    7. Alexander H. Stephens of Georgia

Davis gave geographical balance to his administration by allocating each of the states that seceded before the attack upon Fort Sumter at least one representative in the first cabinet. (Davis himself represented Mississippi.)

Seven. There were none from Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, or Mississippi.

Note that the final Secretary of War, John Breckinridge, hailed from Kentucky, which never became a Confederate state.
