Yesterday's Question: What town bills itself as the "Birthplace of the Confederacy"? The correct answer is Abbeville, SC. However, I've also accepted Montgomery, AL which is considered the "Cradle of the Confederacy".

Wilson, Williams? Sheesh, I think I hate this question. I created the the question from information found in Webb Garrison's "More Civil War Curiosities". I'm not sure why I goofed on the name the first time around, but on the second try I posted the name as it is printed in the book.
Turns out the guy killed at Baton Rouge was named Thomas Willaims (I think) and the rumor that I was looking for was that his men disliked him and held him in front of a cannon as it was fired at the enemy positions, killing him. However, that is just a rumor, and probably not true.
This isn't the first time a Webb Garrison book had bad information, I've posted a number of trivia question based on information I found in his books, and about a third of the time, the information used to create the trivia questions was flawed.
I'd suggest that everyone avoid Garrison's books, they just aren't historically accurate, and I'd hate to see anyone get pushed into the same corner I was in yesterday. Ouch! They aren't worth the paper they're printed on. I'm considering finding a nice stinky trash-can for the three Garrison books I own.
I haven't decided what to do with your answers to this question, perhaps I'll just make it a no-score question....
Sorry for all the confusion this question caused...

Commander Napoleon Collins was court-martialed for his capturing of the Confederate ship Florida. SOmething to do with Neutrality
Napoleon Collins, USS Wachusett, was court-martialed for illegally seizing CSS Florida while in a the neutral port of Bahia, Brazil. But the court martial was just window dressing and nothing really happened to Collins (wink, wink!).

Sinking of the 'Alabama' by the U.S.S. 'Kearsarge'
Drawing by Fred S. Cozzens, published in "Our Navy -- Its Growth and Achievements", 1897, depicting the action between USS Kearsarge and CSS Alabama, off Cherbourg, France, 19 June 1864.
(I was trying to put the drawing in here to "but" it wouldn't let me. Sorry)
The Alabama.Commanded by Raphael Semmes {in my opinion one of the most talented naval figures in history}The Confederate cruiser called at Singapore in December 1863, but soon was back at sea to continue her commerce raiding. However, Alabama was increasingly in need of an overhaul and only captured a few ships in 1864. On 11 June of that year, Captain Semmes brought her to Cherbourg, France, for repairs. The Union steam sloop Kearsarge soon arrived off the port, and, on 19 June the Alabama steamed out to do battle. In an hour of intense combat, she was reduced to a sinking wreck by the Kearsarge's guns. As Alabama disappeared beneath the surface, her surviving crewmen were rescued by the victorious Federal warship and by the English yacht Deerhound. Her wreck was located by the French Navy in the 1980s
